What CE means for plastic machines
CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that a machine meets the safety and EMC requirements of the European Union. For plastic machinery — extruders, bag making machines, printing presses and granulators — CE is not a quality label; it is a legal requirement for sale and operation in the EU and a strong trust signal for buyers in many other markets.
Which directives apply
Most plastic processing lines are covered by three directives:
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC — machine safety, guards, emergency stops and documentation.
- Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU — electrical safety of the control system.
- EMC Directive 2014/30/EU — electromagnetic compatibility with other equipment.
A complete CE file usually references these three, plus the harmonised standards used for the assessment.
What the certificate should include
A credible certificate names the exact machine model, the applicant and manufacturer, the standards tested, the certificate number, the issuing body and the date. Check that the model number on the certificate matches the machine you are buying — certificates that only say "film machine series" are often insufficient.
Red flags: fake or incomplete certificates
Be suspicious of certificates that list unrelated standards, come from obscure bodies with no website, or are offered as a generic PDF with no model number. Some certificates are issued for components, not for the whole machine. Verify the issuing body online and ask for the test report behind the certificate.
EAC and other regional marks
For Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union, the equivalent mark is EAC (TR CU). Machines sold into the EAEU need EAC documentation and often a 380V/50Hz configuration. Other markets have their own requirements — GCC for the Gulf, CSA/UL for North America — so confirm which certification applies to your market before ordering.

What is the difference between CE and EAC?
CE applies in the EU; EAC (TR CU) applies in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union. Both are separate conformity systems.
What voltage should I order for Russia?
Standard industrial supply is 380V/50Hz, and EAC documentation is required for the Eurasian market.
Can I use one certificate for several machines?
